What are the Types of Condoms?

To achieve the best contraceptive effect, it is important to purchase the right type of condom. When purchasing condoms, we need to pay attention to their types, which can be classified by width and surface processing.

      1. There is no definitive classification for condoms. Generally, condoms can be divided into three types based on their nominal width: large, medium, and small. A condom with a nominal width of 55 millimeters is equivalent to the previously used Φ35 or large condoms. A condom with a nominal width of 52 millimeters is equivalent to Φ33 or medium condoms. A condom with a nominal width of 49 millimeters is equivalent to Φ31 or small condoms. Using larger condoms can easily slip out of the vagina, leading to semen leakage and failed contraception. Too-small condoms not only limit the maintenance of erection but also increase the likelihood of condom breakage and accidental pregnancy. Therefore, when choosing condoms, we should select the nominal width that best suits our needs.

      2. Condoms are cylindrical in shape and can be divided into A-type (smooth or flat): the top of the condom has a seminal vesicle, and the body is smooth; B. bulging at the top; C. compact: 1-4 segmental constriction rings are made inside the condom.

In terms of surface processing, there are two types: particle type and thread type. Particle shapes can be divided into large and small particles. Ribbed condoms are also called annular condoms. These processed condoms can enhance the stimulation of the vaginal wall and improve the quality of sexual life. These two types of condoms are often called heterosexual condoms.

      3. Scented condoms. In China, these are condoms that have had various fragrances added to them since the early 1990s. The types of fragrances added include rose and osmanthus.

      4. Drugs for contraception. These are condoms that have been made to include nonoxynol-9, anti-inflammatory drugs, sexual stimulation coagulants, and toothpaste, among others. They are collectively referred to as toxic-type condoms, which offer double protection, drug effect and delay.

      5. Based on the sealing packaging materials, they can be divided into simple packaging and premium packaging condoms. Simple condoms are packaged in plastic film, which has poor sealing performance. Premium condoms are packaged in double-sided or single-sided aluminum foil, which has ideal light-shielding and sealing properties.

      6. These are the most commonly seen types of condoms on the market. Men should choose the appropriate condom type based on their specific situation and preferences.
